From agentic thinking to running workflows
The agentic mindset is there — now build. In this follow-up workshop you turn the flows from the previous session into working automations with n8n: triggers, tools, memory, connections to your own systems, and the guardrails and logging needed before anything goes to production.
What you'll learn
-
n8n from the inside
Nodes, triggers, credentials and data flows. When self-hosted and when cloud — and what that means for your data.
-
Agents with tools and memory
Wire the AI agent node to tools, function calling and MCP servers. Goal-driven flows instead of linear scripts.
-
Connecting to your own systems
Webhooks, REST APIs, email, database, document storage and CRM. Including what isn't automatic: authentication, rate limits and data formats.
-
Making it reliable
Error handling, retries, idempotency, human-in-the-loop approval and audit logs. Testing before it goes live.
-
Operations and governance
Version control, environments, who may change what, cost and GDPR. What do you let go, what never?
Programme
A day in detail — no surprises.
| # | Time | Module | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 09:00–09:30 | Recap & flow selection | Pull up the flows from Agentic Way of Working. Pick one process per participant that will actually run today. |
| 2 | 09:30–10:30 | n8n basics | Workspace, nodes, triggers, credentials and data structure. Build and run a first workflow live. |
| — | 10:30–10:45 | Break | |
| 3 | 10:45–12:00 | AI agent node, tools & memory | Set up the agent node, attach tools, choose memory. Function calling and MCP in practice. |
| — | 12:00–12:45 | Lunch | |
| 4 | 12:45–14:00 | Connecting your own systems | Connect the organisation's webhook or API: authentication, field mapping, handling rate limits and bad data. |
| — | 14:00–14:15 | Break | |
| 5 | 14:15–15:15 | Guardrails, errors & human-in-the-loop | Error branches, retries, idempotency, approval step and audit log. Deliberately break it and recover. |
| 6 | 15:15–16:00 | Going to production | Self-hosted versus cloud, environments and version control, permissions, cost per run and GDPR check. |
| 7 | 16:00–16:30 | Demo & roadmap | Every participant demos their own workflow. Agreements on ownership, maintenance and the next three processes. |
